Skals are a lesser vampire type. Skals are usually shunned by other vampire species for they are not believed to be true vampires. They drink blood and eat corpses. They are made by Vampires of lesser lineages and impure blood or through the bites of other Skals. They are often afflicted with skin infections especially during epidemics. While they often behave wildly like rabid animals, there are some exceptions and thus they can be reasoned with to an extent.
The word Skal means Slave, a rather cruel yet fitting name for such a lesser species. Many are killed on sight unless they have important information or prove themselves useful to their superior brethren.
