Ekons

Ekons are a kind of vampire in Vampyr, who represent the more "classic" vampire one might know from movies like "Dracula" or "Interview with the Vampire". They are less primitive than their cousins, the Vulkods, and also less shy than the more discreet Skals. Ekons blend in fine with society and often are educated, many of them even being aristocrats.

Society[]

In London at least, the Ascalon Club is the governing body of vampires; though they ultimately choose to support the royal family, due to Lord Redgrave's loyalty to the crown. They dispatch Vulkods as enforcers to kill Skals and disobedient Ekons. If necessary the membership of the club resort to joining the fray themselves.

Some Ekons like Reid and Ashbury do not pay mind to the group and simply keep a low profile.

Powers and Abilities[]

Siring[]

Ekons can create more of their kind by letting humans drink their blood. It isn't always a guarantee, as their bodies could be too weak for the blood, or the very purity of the Ekon's blood could be too weak as well, resulting in the creation of Skals instead. The latter case is due to the progenitor blood of said Ekon's line getting further and further corrupted as it is passed down; it still creates an immortal, but a malformed one.

Regeneration[]

Ekons will heal from pretty much anything except decapitation. Unlike sunlight, normal fire will reduce an Ekon's ashes to a state where they cannot regenerate from. In extreme cases, an Ekon can sacrifice some of their blood in order to quickly heal themselves. Though the trade off is weakened powers until they can feed.

Feeding[]

The source of an Ekon's nourishment is blood. From the times seen feeding, Ekons have an incredible capacity for sucking the blood of their victims; draining just enough blood to avoid leaving corpses looking exsanguinated. Likely an instinct to avoid leaving obvious prey behind.

Supernatural Physiology[]

Ekons possess unnatural strength, speed, agility, reflexes and senses beyond what is humanly possible.

Mesmerism[]

Trademark power of Vampires, Ekons can compel humans to obey their commands; it is extremely hard to hypnotize other Ekons. The unskilled can even break the minds of humans who resist against their commands.

Blood Manipulation[]

Ekons can use Hemokinesis on their enemies or sacrifice their own blood to enhance their attacks. When used on enemies it can steal their blood or even paralyze them briefly.

Shadow Manipulation[]

Masters of the shadows, Ekons use Umbrakinesis to hide themselves and even give shadows a physical shape to attack and restrain enemies.

Weaknesses[]

Sunlight[]

The light of the sun can reduce an Ekon to ash if they have exposed skin. Though reduced to this state, if taken out of the sun, they will pull themselves back together by the next night.

Fire[]

Fire is considered the weapon of choice by hunters to destroy an Ekon for good, as their regenerative abilities can't resurrect them once they are burned to ashes.

Garlic[]

It has a terribly strong smell and agitates the olfactory system of Ekons.

Holy Symbols[]

Ekons can be held at bay by religious totems if a human brandishes one with such intent. They also cannot enter churches and other consecrated grounds. It may be due to religious beliefs of an Ekon, seeing as a Skal like Sean Hampton is perfectly fine with wearing a cross.
